Learn a little about me
My name is Yasser Abdelrahman, and I was born in San Diego. Both my parents are from Egypt, and I am full Egyptian. Being Egyptian, I am also Muslim. I am a middle child with an older sister, and a younger sister. Throughout my life I have been to Egypt three times to visit my family that still resides there. I have been speaking both English and Arabic since the age of 5. I have had a passion for soccer since I was younger, and recently about two years ago, in ninth grade, I have acquired a large liking for tennis. I also enjoy doing many other activities like, roller and ice skating, rock climbing, biking, hiking, boogie boarding, fencing, playing guitar, piano, and sculpting. Through childhood, I went to Henry Clay for elementary. Then Harriet Tubman charter for middle school. Throughout my life I have found relationships with family, and friends are beneficial to success in life. At a young age I was always told to assist others. My parents tried explaining to me that if I helped others that, not only would the people that I assisted benefit, but I would as well. So that's precisely what I did, and to this day I have found a joy in assisting others.
As I grew a little older I began to work with my dad. Anything from the car, to a squeaky door in our house. After working with my dad, I realized I also enjoyed to use my hands to create. I love to build things, fix things, look at the magic behind the machine. Soon somewhere around middle school I began to obtain a large interest in the brain. This lead me to neurology, and I later became very interested in becoming a surgeon. My aspirations continued to change and mold to what I was exposed to. Three years ago I enrolled to a health school, called HSHMC, and after a year of exploring other careers, I decided that I would like to combine biology and engineering and look at a career of Bio-engineering. I plan to continue the next two years of high school exploring other fields that interest me and ultimately do what I love. I've recently started to volunteer at the City heights library, once a week. I am currently involved in many clubs, and extra-curriculars including, all honors, HOSA, Speech and debate club, guitar club, NHS, and I'm running for ASB Secretary. I still have so much ahead of me, and I plan on going to a University, specifically UCSD, which has caught my attention due to its' great Bio-engineering program. I hope for others to look to me for help, honesty, reliability, and leadership. More about me to come as my life progresses.
